Our Tea Tree Oil

We stand by the genuineness of our oil, with each batch of our 100% pure Australian tea tree oil analysed and certified by the Analytical Research Laboratory of Southern Cross University (Lismore, Australia). We guarantee that our oil not only conforms but rates highly against all ISO 4730 quality assessment specifications. Certificates of analysis are available upon request (PDF format).

With our on-site distillery and bottling facility just metres from our tea tree fields, you can be assured that the 100% pure Australian tea tree oil extracted from the freshly harvested leaves is exactly the same oil that you will receive in your bottle – quality guaranteed.

As the trees began to yield, Robert transitioned to a full-time grower in 2005. Today, Stepping Stone Plantation has expanded to over 250 acres and almost 1.5 million trees, while also being home to a significant koala population and a small herd of cattle who tirelessly assist with grass and weed control.

With SSP encompassing multiple properties, Robert is kept abundantly busy, needing to employ seasonal staff for busy periods such as harvest. He's also actively involved in many tea tree oil innovations and steering committees. Nonetheless, he loves his work and always comes home to his beautiful wife with a smile of satisfaction on his face and a healthy appetite for dinner!

The majority of our trees have been propagated from bush seed collected from natural strands of wild Melaleuca alternifolia in the nearby Bungawalbyn Creek basin, meaning they thrive at SSP!

Our History

Robert (ATTOM partner, agricultural director and our dad) had from a young age aspired to being a farmer but had come no closer than a couple of house cows and an occasional small crop of zucchini, sugar snap peas or lettuce on the two acres of land on which he lived.

In 1988, aged in his early 30s, the seed of what became his tea tree oil dream began to emerge when he accepted a position with a company undertaking the first successful large-scale planting of Melaleuca alternifolia. In 1999, after more than 10 years at the forefront of the developing tea tree oil industry, his purchase of a small parcel of land on the outskirts of Lismore and the subsequent establishment of the aptly-named Stepping Stone Plantation (SSP) saw his tea tree oil dream fulfilled.

In the early years, Robert juggled his full-time job as an accountant with working weekends and after hours on the farm. With the support of wife Wendy, he was able to coerce his three children, James, Dominique and Bianca (then aged 16, 14, and 11) to help him plant their first trees in the summer holidays of 1999/2000.
